What's missing from most programs
Produce prescriptions and food pharmacies solve access. They don't solve the Tuesday-night question of what to cook, or the habit change that keeps people eating that way after the vouchers stop.
Building a curriculum from scratch pulls dietitians and chefs away from patients. A tested sequence saves that time.
What your program gets
- A 9-week class sequence that moves from a first plant-forward week through the pantry, the plate, and long-term habits.
- A recipe library designed around common produce-prescription and food-pharmacy items.
- Facilitator guides for dietitians, chefs, or community health workers.
- Simple participation and satisfaction measures you can add to your own evaluation.
WPU is in pre-launch. Materials are in draft, and founding partners help shape them before they open to everyone.

The evidence
What the research says
-
A systematic review of cooking and home food preparation programs for adults found results that suggest a positive influence on eating behavior.
-
In a 22-week randomized trial in people with type 2 diabetes, a low-fat vegan diet lowered HbA1c more than a standard diabetes diet (−0.96 vs −0.56 points), and more participants reduced their diabetes medication (43% vs 26%).
Questions
Is WPU clinically validated?
Not yet as a program. It is built on well-studied principles (more whole plants and fiber, group support, hands-on cooking), and we're collecting data from the founding cohort. We'd welcome a health-system partner to help evaluate it.
Can our clinicians adapt the content?
Yes. Your dietitians and physicians stay in charge of clinical guidance. The program supplies structure and recipes.
