Why a series beats a single event
One-time health talks are easy to schedule and easy to forget. A nine-week series builds friendships and habits.
Programs need to be low-cost and easy to lead. The WPU kit includes everything a volunteer needs.
What your center gets
- The coordinator kit: lesson outlines, recipe cards, discussion prompts, and the weekly small step.
- A shared-meal or tasting format that fits a community kitchen or a potluck.
- Faith content is optional. The core program is about food, movement, rest, and community.
- Free for founding community partners.
WPU is in pre-launch. Materials are in draft, and founding partners help shape them before they open to everyone.
How to start
- 01
Find a coordinator
Staff or a volunteer who'll host nine weekly sessions.
- 02
Schedule the nine weeks
Evenings, lunchtimes, or Saturday mornings all work.
- 03
Invite the regulars
Then ask them to bring a friend. That's Step 9: the ripple.
The nine weekly steps: Taste the Power · The Why · The Pantry Reset · Build the Plate · Master the Greens · Beans, Grains & the Power Foods · Less Meat, More Life · Move, Rest, Renew · The Ripple. See the full program.
Questions
Does it work for older adults?
Yes. Recipes are simple, movement is gentle and optional, and the group format suits senior centers well.
Do you work with extension offices?
We'd like to. If you teach nutrition or cooking through a county extension office, get in touch.
